On January 22nd, citizens from around the State of Florida have coordinated over 20 simultaneous events, from the Keys to Pensacola, to request State officials to sign the Floridians’ Clean Water Declaration Pledge. You too, can be a part of this statewide historical event and join us in downtown Gainesville, in solidarity, for your right to clean water.
The Floridians’ Clean Water Declaration is a positive vision to inspire people to work together to create a new water ethic, find solutions to Florida’s water quality and quantity problems and send a clear message to our water managers that the people of Florida demand clean water. Our north Florida springs are imperiled and we need more protection and attention given to improve our waters for now and our future. All groups and citizens are invited to attend.
We will be asking participants of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) meeting to sign the Pledge. This meeting is concerning changes to a Minimum Flow and Levels (MFLs) Rule that is supposed to ultimately create a layer of protection for the quality and quantity of our waters.
If YOU want to help us get signatures please consider attending our demonstration in front of the Alachua County Administration Building. Please plan to arrive at 8:30 am for a briefing and a press conference at 9 am. We want to talk with attendees before they enter the meeting room and ask them to sign the pledge as unified vision to protect our water, for us now and for future generations.
