For those of you that weren’t there, or just want to relive the songs you heard, here are the videos, produced by Digitel Video, of many of the contestants of the 2014 Our Santa Fe River Singer/Songwriter Contest.

FIRST PLACE WINNER is 27 year old Blake Hunter, native of Fort White, a musician who has played drums and guitar since the age of 12.  Music genres include country, rock, southern rock, blues, and metal. Some of his musical influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brent Mason, and Brad Paisley.

SECOND PLACE WINNER  is Don David of Gainesville. Don has been canoeing on the Santa Fe River with his family for years.  About his song, he says “The song is a rocker about a river. It’s not too long, and it’s not too short. It’s in the key of G, for all you harmonica players out there.”

Song title:  “Come down to the river.”  Lyrics copyrighted.

Jane Fallon hails from Vermont and is an accomplished musician/songwriter who has won several awards, and who has also published a book Seven Songs in Seven Days: The Journey of an Arkansas Traveler.  It is interesting that Jane’s song, “Take Care of the Santa Fe,” was inspired by the proposed pipeline in north Florida and the dangers of fracking to obtain natural gas.  Jane, of course, is strongly opposed to both.
