Today in Tallahassee, Nov. 3, 2015, the House Subcommittee on Agriculture and Natural Resources considered HB 191, brought forth this year again as in last session, by Rep. Ray Rodrigues.

Purporting to stiffen regulations against fracking, the bill actually legitimizes this dangerous technology, and was backed and supported by the oil industry.  Two OSFR members spoke against this bill.

Approximate 50 people were present to ask their representatives to vote down this bad legislation, but to no avail, as the vote went nine to four for the bill. Kudos and thanks to the intelligence and honesty of Clovis Watson, Larry Lee, Katy Edwards, and Bobby Debose, the four who voted to stop this bill.

Representatives who yet need to be convinced of the risks of fracking are Reps. Jake Raburn, Ray Pilon, Cyndi Stevenson, Tom Goodson, Neil Combee, Brad Drake, and especially Jim Boyd, Jennifer Sullivan and Jimmie Smith.
