Lake City, Florida, December 19, 2016  —  Four Rivers Audubon, Branford Camera Club, and Florida Gateway College are pleased to announce the Alligator Lake Spring Festival Photo Contest!

Winners will be announced and winning photos on display at this year’s Alligator Lake Spring Festival.

The contest is intended to inform the community about the environmental and recreational wealth offered by Alligator Lake Park.  The sponsors expect the competition to encourage local photographers to appreciate and creatively interpret that wealth, and to provide a venue for the creative work of North Central Florida’s many talented photographers.

Photos, which must be taken at Alligator Lake in Columbia County, FL, may be entered in any of three categories:

  • Recreation These are photos showing people using Alligator Lake Park recreationally, such as picnicking, fishing, running, nature study, etc.
  • Nature Photos submitted in the “Nature” category should accurately reflect the plants, animals, and/or scenery as it appeared.
  • Creative Entries will include photos created using such photographic techniques as HDR, composites, abstracts, etc. or modified beyond the limits of the “Nature” category.

One Grand Prize Winner will be announced and a First Place Winner will be awarded in each category.  And in addition to those awards, Four Rivers Audubon Society will recognize one photograph as the Best Bird Photo!

Photographs must be submitted by February 15, 2017. Details about contest prizes, rules, and how to submit entries are found at the contest website: https://sites.google.com/site/alsfphotocontest

The Alligator Lake Spring Festival, which will be held April 8, 2017, is sponsored by Four Rivers Audubon Society.  The event underscores the importance of this wonderful park as a water resource and as the valuable natural resource it is for our area’s wildlife, such as birds.  Alligator Lake is headwaters of the Ichetucknee River.  Festival activities are designed to engage and educate folks about water, healthy yards, birds, flowers, wildlife habitat, plants and enjoying the great outdoors.
