The agenda for the joint meeting of the Suwannee River Water Management District and the St Johns River Water Management District, Jan. 17, Alachua complex, 11 am, has been issued, and we see that the only item is the approval of the Joint North Florida Regional Water Supply Plan. There is an opportunity for public comment so we suggest you attend and explain to them the huge flaws in their plan. One of which is that they want to give out more and more water but have no plans to decrease groundwater withdrawals. This is a bit like not living in the real world.
Our Santa Fe River is predicted to be even more in deficit than it is now. What kind of management is this? We want our river protected, not degraded and diminished even more. We must simply reduce over-pumping and STOP permits until the river has recovered. Which will NOT happen under this plan.
You may see the agenda at this link.
Please join us at this meeting.
