Louella Phillips and daughters made the long trip from Polk County

The last workshop on the amended Land Develop Regulations was completed and passed unanimously by the board.  Several speakers addressed the board in favor of these amendments, among them OSFR members Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, Billie Jo Benedict, and your historian. Special thanks to Louella Phillips and her two daughters, who made the long trip from Polk County to oppose the mine.

Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson speaks regarding the definition of wetlands and the Valdosta water treatment plant.

There awaits now the final Public Hearing, scheduled for December 17, 2018,  when the finalized vote will be taken to accept the amended  LDRs.  This meeting is critical and we hope to have many mine opponents attend.

Commissioners Tom Nettles and Woody Kitler were termed out of office at this meeting, and OSFR commends them for their long and important service.
