11th O’Leno Olé Chili Cookoff

April 7, 2018

Bring your favorite chili recipe and compete with the best at this CASI-sanctioned event. CASI membership not required. There will be trophies for 1st – 10th place, and 1st – 3rd place for Showmanship. CASI rules can be found at www.chili.org.

Or, compete in the Open category where anything goes! There will be 2 Open categories – with Meat, and Vegetarian, with trophies for 1st – 3rd place winners, and cash prizes of $50 for 1st place and $25 for 2nd place in each Open category. Contestants must be 18 years or older. A cash prize of $100 will be presented for the “Peoples’ Choice”!

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Cookoff runs from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Fee: $20.00 per team for one category, $15.00 for each additional category.

2018 Springs Celebration

And in conjunction with the Cookoff, be sure to take in all the activities of the Springs Celebration! All happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kids Activities, Environmental Exhibits, Art Vendors, and Live Music by “Weeds of Eden” and “Staber & Chasnoff.” Plus, a guided interpretive walk on park trails. Chili Taster kits will be offered for $5 starting at 12:30 pm, tasting begins at 1:00 pm. Chance drawings for items generously donated by local businesses.

All proceeds from these events will be used for the care of our animal ambassadors at the O’Leno Nature Center, and to enhance the public’s understanding of their unique contributions to our environment.
