The Union County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday, March 21, 2016 at 6 pm in the Lake Butler Community Center to consider the unanimously adopted moratorium on mining in Union County, Florida. The Center is located at 155 NW 3rd Ave. in Lake Butler, 32054. The commission will take public comment and will discuss the moratorium. The vote will take place at the following BOCC meeting.
Please attend this meeting and speak for the Santa Fe to protect it from this imminent threat by a huge 17-square mile phosphate mine proposed by a local company. The commissioners have already unanimously agreed to the moratorium, but they need all the support we can muster. The cities of Raiford, Worthington Springs and Lake Butler have all pledged their support.
