Yesterday, the Suwannee River Water Management Board unanimously (8 members present, one seat needs still needs an appointment by Gov. Crist) revoked Blue Springs Properties bottling water CUP (Consumptive Use Permit of 500,000 gallons daily). OSFR praises the revocation, one of many occurring in the past few years. GOOD, Blue Springs permit is put to rest for now (Kim Davis, owner of Blue Springs, has threatened to reapply “when the timing is right”). Somewhat BAD because it goes back into our pool of resources to issue permits. OSFR maintains that these types of permits need to be stopped, as they are a poor use of our public natural resources and create daunting pollution.
