Great new FaceBook page is out –BOYCOTT GINNIE SPRINGS !! We support this group wholeheartedly and congratulate them.
Since Ginnie Springs ownership coincides with Seven Springs Water Company which extracts millions of gallons of water and sells it to Nestle (now BlueTriton Brands) we would like to see these water extractions stop.
The Santa Fe River is flowing about 30 per cent below what it should be flowing and pumping more water out of it will further delay restoration. If the owners of Seven Springs really cared about the river and the environment as they say they do, they would not pull out nearly a million gallons a day from the river that is a fragile and unhealthy state. There is nothing these owners can say to refute these facts.
At the same time Seven Springs is reducing water flow (which invites algae) their water goes into millions and millions of plastic bottles which end up polluting our rivers, roadsides and the planet.
Ginnie Springs, being part of this and profiting from this, is not a good neighbor and is a business which is not welcome in our neighborhood.
We would suggest you visit Rum Island Park, Gilchrist Blue, Poe Springs or any other spring.
