Retired Naval Officer Doug Cuthbert Asks the Commission to Consider the Environment

Five people got up and spoke to the Bradford County Commissioners today (June 6, 2016) about their concerns regarding the proposed phosphate mine.

Each of the five gave valid reasons why the mine should not be approved.  The mine was not on the agenda, but the five took the opportunity to address these key people who are empowered to determine the direction in which Bradford County will move.

Three of the speakers, your writer included, had previously addressed the board on several occasions.  Two first-timers, however, appeared, Doug Cuthbert, a retired naval officer,  and a young mother from Jacksonville named Sofya Tairova.

The board listened quietly and gave no response, as per the custom.

  1. Too much control by moneyed individuals who give not a care about the future of our successors – our children and at least 7 generations down. In Bradford County.
Hoping someone on their level monetarily can intervene here.
