Today, March 6, 2017 at the Bradford County Board of County Commissioners’ meeting in Starke, item C. of the Consent Agenda reads:  “BoCC letter to Scott Koons with North Central Florida Regional Planning Council regarding Technical Assistance on behalf of Bradford County Board of County Commissioners.”

Looked interesting, and it was approved without comment, but after the meeting County Attorney Will Sexton explained that this was not about HPS Enterprises, at least not about the permit application.

In the ensuing conversation, Counselor Sexton spoke more about the mine and reiterated his promise to personally advise us ahead of time before anything of consequence regarding the mine should appear at a commissioners’ meeting.  He added that the mine issue was a priority with the board, he hoped it would be addressed soon.

Two speakers, your historian and the every-loyal and present Kate Ellison reminded the board of the dangerous threat posed by the mine.

While on this topic, we would remind everyone of the joint meeting between the commissioners of Alachua and Bradford Counties, later this month on March 20, in the Starke chambers at 6:30 pm.
