This mindset will forever change Florida as we know it. Our wetlands cannot be destroyed if we want to keep using our aquifer for drinking, as we must.

Gov. Rick Scott released the “Opportunity Zone” map for the entire state of Florida. District 10 has a lot of land up for grabs here, in Hamilton County, Baker County, Columbia County and a lot in Suwannee County. Much of the big massive areas are wetlands and in District 10, much are directly in the Suwannee River basin.
Get ready to hear a lot about mitigation measures.
Developing wetlands is a always a bad idea, we only have limited amount of these historically protected areas left. Over the years, Floridians and scientists recognize the importance of keeping wetlands intact.
Destroying or developing them, especially in the high recharge of the Floridan aquifer, where over 20 million people get their drinking water, is a really bad idea.
Hold strong, we only have to look south to know that we do not want mismanagement of our wetlands in north Florida. We need to protect wetlands for the future of our state and for our drinking water. No water, no jobs.
