Executive Director:

Tom Fitz is a multiple Emmy Award-winning cameraman whose work has been broadcast by PBS, BBC, National Geographic, Discovery, ABC, NHK, Tokyo Broadcasting, and others. His programs have also been displayed in museums and other non-broadcast venues. Tom has over 30 years of experience in natural history camerawork and his projects have taken him all over the world. In ’04 Tom began producing his own films too, earning numerous awards. He currently divides his time between freelancing with the BBC’s Natural History Unit, other wildlife and commercial productions and overseeing the daily efforts at Schoolyard.

Tom has filmed Narwals in the high Arctic, swam with Pygmy Sloths in Panama, and his latest project, based right here in High Springs; Cave Diving in the Floridan Aquifer. We will premier “Clear Water, Clean Water? – Exploring the Floridan Aquifer” (20 Minutes) and a Making-of short film about the production. Tom’s non-profit educational film company, Schoolyard Films, provides free films and study guides for schools on conservation and environmental topics. Tom has fantastic work to share and a story (or two) to tell…
