Union County BoCC Meeting on Comprehensive Land Use Changes

Monday, September 18, Union County High School, Lake Butler

We need to pack this Union County BoCC meeting with at least 350 citizens & residents against phosphate mining September 18th for the vote on the Comprehensive Land Use changes.  We must support these commissioners who are pressured to cave in to money interests.

This County has struggled to keep their rural nature just that…rural.

WE MUST SUPPORT THE UNION COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN PROTECTING THE WATERS AND LANDS SURROUNDING THE SANTA FE RIVER!

The New River and Santa Fe River course through the idyllic agricultural landscapes with occasional pastureland, various row cropping and timber lands. This Commission values protecting the natural landscapes and has placed a moratorium on mining permitting until their Land Development Regulations and their Comprehensive Plan Element are consistent with one another.

This is the next important step we all need to do to stop this mine.

This is important!

Union County citizens and everyone who cares about stopping this mine need to attend this VERY IMPORTANT meeting to support the 5 Commissioners and their staff that have worked for over 1 1/2 years to design a Comprehensive Plan that works for the community as it exists today, one that does not include extensive phosphate mining, but rather a plan that keeps agriculture lands intact for now and the next generation.

COME EARLY! Bring warm bodies. Bring your neighbors, friends, and anyone who likes the Santa Fe River and does not want to see it destroyed.

4:30 p.m.: Planning and Zoning Board
5:00 p.m.: Public hearing regarding mining
5:30 p.m.: Final Budget meeting
6:00 p.m.: Regular BOCC meeting
