Yesterday morning the fast-acting and forward-thinking Hamilton Co. County Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution to support an anti-fracking ban throughout the state. This item was placed on the agenda by Chris Mericle of WWALS Watershed Coalition, and the quick-thinking county attorney Mr. John McCormick did his homework and presented a solid resolution to the board for their approval, which they heartily gave.
This paperwork was rapidly signed so that the equally quick-acting President Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson of OSFR, rushed it to Tallahasse to Gov. Scott’s office to deposit it with the governor.
During her message to the board, President Malwitz-Jipson also had the pleasure of reading an e-mail from Dr. Helen Miller, mayor of White Springs, stating that her city supports the anti-fracking ban.
OSFR and WWALS both commend the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners for their actions and support to help insure a frack free Florida for future generations to enjoy.
