In celebration of her birthday, Billie Jo Benedict has generated a fundraiser for Our Santa Fe River, Inc. with the funds designated for the legal fees to fight the Seven Springs Water C0mpany which wants to renew their permit to pump water from Ginnie Springs to sell to Nestle which will bottle it and ship it out. Ginnie Springs and the Santa Fe River are already severely damaged from too much pumping, and this company wants to quadruple their withdrawals to make even more money.
For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Our Santa Fe River Inc. I’ve chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me! Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I’ve included information about Our Santa Fe River Inc below. Our Santa Fe River, Inc. is dedicated to the education about, stewardship of and advocacy for the Santa Fe River, an Outstanding Waterway in north central Florida.
Fighting huge corporations like Nestle, which has unlimited funds, is not easy. Even though some lawyers care for the environment and work for reduced fees, legal battles are still very expensive. Nestle’s lawyers know this and try to drag out the proceedings hoping we will run out of funds.
Unlike some non-profits and charities, you can be assured that every penny of your donation will go 100 per cent to fighting Nestle, as no one at OSFR gets paid–we are all volunteers.
The springs, the river and this water belong to the public to use and enjoy, and not to Seven Springs.
Please help us protect the Santa Fe River from further abuse and degradation.
