Many of you know of the important issue of Sleepy Creek Lands, formerly known as Adena Springs Ranch. For a concise history click here.
On Tuesday, July 14, the St Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) will make a final recommendation as to the permit. The latest information is that it will not be known until the day of the meeting whether or not the public may speak to the issue.
At any rate, it is very important to have a strong public presence at the meeting, so please attend if possible. If you are going, please try to arrive by 1 p.m. at the headquarters at 4049 Reid Street, Palatka. Also, to register beforehand, click here.
St Johns Riverkeeper is working to provide carpooling or transportation for those needing it. Click here for more information.
Also, please read the history at the link above and submit your comments prior to the meeting at this link. This writer got a “proxy error” here three times before receiving a confirmation email, so keep trying if it fails the first time.
If you read the history of this travesty of greed and insanity you will likely be incensed. Read the part where it explains how the flow of Silver Springs has dropped 50 percent since l965. If you read the comments of Judge E. Gary Early you will be mystified as to his incredulity, convoluted reasoning and lack of judgment. His definition of “public interest” is unbelieveable. He defines the public as one man, Mr. Stronach. He believes a few jobs are more important than our springs.
Terry: the link works now. I had to delete and repost, as it won’t let me edit it otherwise.
The link to register and to carpool is the same. Should there be a different link to register? If so, please provide it. Thanks
