Never a dull time at Rum 138. Last night, November 23, 2019, internationally-known nature photographer John Moran opened an exhibit of his one-of-a-kind photos, which will continue until Jan. 8, 2020.
Fitting in with the art gallery’s theme of nature and the rivers, John’s photos include many water scenes as well as birds, animals and plants. His work emphasizes the beauty of Florida, some of which is fast disappearing before our eyes.
He is well known for his photo stories showing the before and after status of our springs, and presented one at the BMAP challenges just last week in Tallahassee.
These pictures show the striking changes and refute the shallow statement which we have heard water board members say: “I visited the springs last week and they were flowing and looked just fine.”
He also recently had a fundamental series of South Florida showing the incredibly gross effects of our state’s inexcusable neglect resulting in red tide and toxic algae.
John is a man of many talents; not only in producing beautiful images, but also he is an artist in prose in his writings. Visit the Rum 138 Gallery to see an impressive and outstanding display of his work.
