An anti-fracking ban is on the agenda for the Lafayette BOCC on Tues., Sept. 8 at 9 am in Mayo. JOIN US!

Amy Datz of Floridians Against Fracking drove from Tallahassee today to make an official request to be on their agenda on Sept. 8.  Several others from the state-wide group also made the trip, including multiple OSFR members who had previously dropped off information packets there.

The five commissioners voted unanimously to place the issue on the agenda, so we need a large turnout on Sept. 8 at 9 am to support this ban, in the county court house on Main St. in Mayo.

As of this writing, it is calculated that approximately 31 per cent of Floridians are now represented by local governments that have gone on record as not wanting fracking in their jurisdictions.

Those who are familiar with fracking and its toll on our environment will appreciate these numbers, and the tireless work these dedicated individuals produce.  These results are phenomenal and worthy of celebration, but there is much left to do.
