Our Santa Fe River (OSFR) and Alachua County Green Party members made the trip to St. Augustine, Florida Sunday, May 15th, to support 350.org and BreakFree2016.org in their March for Future Generations: Break Free from Fossil Fuels.

Over 100 citizen activists marched across the Bridge of Lions, and gathered at City Hall, to express their concern about mounting climate problems, and to draw attention to the cause; increasing fossil fuel consumption. Speakers warned of the dangers of rising sea levels, fracking and offshore drilling, and called for a transition to 100% renewable energy.

The event was sponsored by the Environmental Youth Council and supported by The Center for Biological Diversity, The Matanzas River Keeper, The Unitarian Universalist Community of St. Augustine, Rainforest Action Network and Friends of the Earth, joining in urging President Obama and world leaders to leave fossil fuels in the ground and embrace a sustainable clean energy future.

It was especially encouraging to see so many young, aware people turn out, to begin charting a course for their future.
