New Board of Advisors for OSFR

Welcome to Our New Advisors

OSFRlogobluenewAt its July 29th meeting, the 2015-2016 Board of Directors of Our Santa Fe River Inc. (OSFR) voted to establish a Board of Advisors for OSFR.  The idea behind the Board of Advisors is to formalize many existing relationships as well as to create new relationships with leading experts in fields related to OSFR’s mission:  promote public awareness pertaining to the ecology, quality and quantity of waters and lands immediately adjacent to and supporting the Santa Fe River, including its springs and underlying aquifer.

Advisors will provide advice, information, support and cooperation, enabling OSFR to solidify its fact-finding activities and its dissemination of information to its members and the public at large.

By means of this communique we are delighted to report the names of the first three founding members of the OSFR Board of Advisors:

Mary Jane Angelo

Professor of Law and Director of the Environmental and Land Use Law Program at the University of Florida College of Law,

Jim Gross

Professional Geologist, formerly with the St. John’s River Water Management District, and

Dr. Bob Knight

Founder and Director of the Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute.

With a goal of adding a minimum of three new members at each of the next two board meetings, OSFR will attempt to finalize its Board of Advisors by year end 2015. The Board of Advisors will be listed on the OSFR website including complete bios.  Although there is no time minimum to OSFR on the part of the Board of Advisors, they must commit to being available as a sounding board for questions and issues that arise regarding the health, preservation and well-being of the Santa Fe River.

The 2015-2016 Board of Directors of OSFR has committed itself to strengthening the organization’s structure, growing the membership base and expanding funding sources with a goal of becoming the preeminent voice for the Santa Fe River and helping effect changes needed to save our beautiful river. The Board of Advisors will be an important part of this future growth.
