So Twin Pines wants to destroy just a little less of our precious and fast-diminishing natural resources? Kill the swamp just a little bit instead of more? So we should be happy and let them rob us a little less but still rob us?
NO, NO AND NO.
Twin Pines, Georgia and the world do not need whatever this mine tears from the earth. In the history of the world, we have evolved and survived and made it to the present without whatever it is they think they need to make more money and we will do just fine without it.
A common tactic by industry which faces obstacles to their destructive ways is to start small, and ask for just a little, but once established, they request and get expansion.

New plan shrinks proposed mine near Okefenokee Swamp refuge
The swamp is home to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, the largest federally protected refuge east of the Mississippi River, covering nearly 630 square miles (1,631 sq. kilometers). Critics have warned the mining project could cause irreparable harm to the swamp’s fragile ecosystem that serves as habitat to alligators, bald eagles and other protected species.
The company’s new permit application submitted March 4 would shrink the size of the initial area to be mined to 898 acres (3.6 square kilometers), compared to a proposed 1,450 acres (5.87 square kilometers) under the original proposal….
