OSFR, along with Current Problems, recently took part in a trash pickup session on the Gainesville creeks. Slobs that some of us are, trash continually goes into the water and some good people, like Wayne Kinard and friends, and Rhonda Long, and friends, go out there and try to fix it. It is never totally fixed, but without their efforts, the creeks and rivers would look much, much worse.
The combined efforts of 100+ volunteers removed over 6000 pounds of garbage from Gainesville creeks Sat. March 17.
OSFR members Russ Jones & Rhonda Long joined the Spring Creek crew off 6th St & 39th Ave. for Current Problems Spring Creek Revival. Kristen Merritt, OSFR Board member joined them later that day at First Magnitude Brewery to celebrate the success & talk about osfr, Riverfest & water science.
Education is the best solution, even though some people are not trainable; OSFR has a small campaign with their “Don’t trash where you splash” signs.
This is one small way we can help our beautiful water resources. Thanks to all who participate. Excellent photos by Rhonda Long.
