OSFR President Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, tireless advocate for the rivers and springs, hurried from the Alachua Board of County Commissioners meeting to Lake City to address Senator Charlie Dean and Representative Elizabeth Porter at the Gateway College Delegation Meeting today, January 13, 2015.

Multiple members of Our Santa Fe River and also the Ichetucknee Alliance attended and addressed the legislators on key issues such as disposition of Amendment 1 funds and springs and river stewardship.

Specifically, President Malwitz-Jipson asked Sen. Dean to support Rep. Jenne’s HB166.  As Rep. Clovis Watson is now co-sponsoring HB169, there is need for a companion SB in the Senate to be brought to the floor.

It was brought to the attention of the Legislators that President Malwitz-Jipson is an un-salaried, un-compensated volunteer who gives freely of her time and energy, in this case, on her only day off from work, to champion the cause of protecting Florida’s springs and rivers.
