The fifth annual “Our Santa Fe River” Song Contest will be held on Sunday, October 5, 1014. This event includes original live music at Our Santa Fe River headquarters, located at the Rum 138 business building in Fort White, FL. Singer/songwriters are invited to write and perform their original songs about the Santa Fe River. Whether you swim, tube, paddle, boat, fish or just plain recreate on the Santa Fe, this is your opportunity to share your love and experiences of the river.

“Our goal for the 2014 songwriting contest is to bring awareness of our river to people who know and love the Santa Fe and also reach people who have not yet enjoyed our ‘Outstanding Florida Waters,'” says Our Santa Fe president Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson. “We want to expand the popularity of the contest and provide education about Florida’s waters in general and the Santa Fe River in particular.”
This contest gives singer/songwriters an opportunity to showcase their writing and performing talents in front of the live audience that gathers each year to enjoy the original compositions. Cash prizes and awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
Surprisingly soulful and deeply heartfelt songs have arisen from Our Santa Fe River Song Contest. In its fifth year, Our Santa Fe River boasts of 30 previously performed songs and nearly all of them can be viewed onYoutube. https://oursantaferiver.org/2013-song-contest-videos/
All performances will be recorded for www.YouTube.com by Digitel Video, LLC. Professional sound and stage provided by High Springs Lion’s Club. Meals can be purchases through the Lion’s Club at the event. OSFR is seeking local businesses and individuals to provide sponsorship in the form of prize or cash donations. Please call (386) 454-4247. Sponsorship deadline to be included on promotional materials is August 31, 2014. Song entry deadline is September 30, 2014.
“This family-friendly event brings the extended community together for mutual appreciation and enjoyment of our Santa Fe River,” says Malwitz-Jipson. “The annual songwriting contest creates consciousness of the water by connecting to our hearts through music.”
