Poe Springs Park offers free swimming in the springs, picnic facilities and open play areas.  Regular hours for the park traditionally had been Thursday-Sunday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m but the damage from Hurricane Irma has caused it to be closed.

Current plans call for the park to re-open on May 17th, even though all areas may not be completed by that date.

Poe Springs is unfortunately in trouble, as are most of Florida’s springs.  Dr. Robert Knight says of Poe, that it is “…likely experiencing a downward trajectory of ecological collapse.” (Silenced Springs, pp 85-86.)  Later in the book he also mentions that in 2012 the first recorded cessation of flow occurred in this spring.

Although not the way it used to,  as of this writing, the spring is flowing, so come and enjoy this beautiful park.

  1. Hello,
We will be visiting family in area, and asking if there is a fee for park use, and is there a cutoff on number of daily visitors?
