(OSFR) | Protecting the Santa Fe RiverA protest sponsored by OSFR and  Mermaid Michi (Michelle Colson) was conducted at the  High Springs Winn Dixie on Saturday morning, Dec. 21, 2019.  Local outlets for the Seven Springs/Nestle products may not be aware of the damage and destruction this pumping does from our springs and rivers.  OSFR’s mission of education comes into play in this endeavor, and we hope that our effort to help restore the Santa Fe will result in fewer outlets.  Mike Roth presented the Winn Dixie manager with a letter requesting they stop sales of bottled water.

Mike said later “I found the manager of the High Springs Winn Dixie to be quite receptive to our letter and our thoughts.  What started as a letter delivery became a twenty minute sharing of thoughts and ideas.  He was able to point to several instances where his personal interest in environmental concerns had led to some plastics reduction from certain vendors.  He pointed out that he was not able to make company-wide decisions, but would certainly forward our letter to upper levels of management for consideration.”

“Most impressive was when I went back into the store after the demonstration was over, he saw me and came up to continue the conversation.  He had been thinking about what we said.  That alone felt like a major inroad into what we were trying to accomplish.”

Seven Springs’ further withdrawals of water from an already significantly damaged river  cannot help but delay the restoration, in spite of their claims that they would never harm the river.  It is already harmed, and they are harming it more instead of helping it.

That is the message we want to provide Winn Dixie and other outlets that help Seven Springs and Nestle harm our rivers and springs.

Kristin Rubin cleans up after Seven Springs and Nestle. Nestle make a huge chest whap about recycle, but Nestle— we should not have this on the ground to recycle. Why did you put it there? Why is there a question of recycling? Why are you even here?
