The permits are in but those who care have not given up. Now we are down to litigation and the exercise of free speech, which was exercised today in a rural area north of Lake City. Sierra Club organizer and OSFR member Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson overnight brought together a dedicated group which included OSFR president Pam Smith and Beth Gordon, first president of SpectraBusters, plus several more OSFR members and others from across the state as far away as Fort White Gainesville, Oviedo and Dunnellon.
This group stood in the heat of the day in front of the pipe storage on US Hwy 441 north of Lake
City. Press representatives present included the Lake City Reporter and WCJB TV of Gainesville, who interviewed Pam Smith, Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, Beth Gordon, Laura Dailey, Terry Phelan and perhaps others.
Congratulations to Laura Dailey, Beth Gordon, Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, Terry Phalen, Pam Smith, and others for participating in a PROTEST at Sabal Trail Pipe-Yard on Aug. 18. How nice that folks came from Ft. White, Gainesville, Oviedo, and Dunnellon to participate in making their voices heard. Thanks to those who participated in interviews with Lake City Reporter and WCJB of Gainesville. Thanks to all of you for giving the river a voice! We will continue to be heard!!!
