Public Meeting on Ichetucknee
Springshed Water Quality
Improvement Project

The District is partnering with the City of Lake City and Columbia County to improve water quality by reducing Lake City’s wastewater nutrient loadings to the Ichetucknee River. The Ichetucknee Springshed Water Quality Improvement project will convert Lake City’s treated wastewater effluent sprayfields into wetlands constructed to reduce nitrogen loading by an estimated 85 percent.

The total project cost is $4.6 million with funding contributions of $3.9 million from the
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), $400,000 from the District, $200,000
from Lake City, and $100,000 from Columbia County.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to learn more about the conceptual
design and provide feedback.
