Public Meeting with DEP, SRWMD, Columbia Co. About LAND USE

This important meeting with the DEP, the executive director of SRWMD and representatives from the Columbia County Commission will deal with land use for Columbia Co. DEP will discuss LAND USE in the Santa Fe  River Basin, a precursor to getting Columbia County to change AG-3 Zoning down by the Rivers and Springs.  This issue is extremely important so that another chicken operation or any other harmful business in the basin will not be allowed to be built of top of the high recharge area for the Floridan Aquifer.

Santa Fe River Basin BMAP Annual Meeting

The meeting topics will include an update on the adopted BMAP.  A BMAP is the means for implementation of the adopted Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs).  A copy of the agenda may be obtained by contacting: Terry Hansen, Watershed Planning and Coordination Section, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, 2600 Blair Stone Road, MS 3565, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-2400, or by e-mail terry.hansen@dep.state.fl.us.
