The Lake City Reporter writes more today about the negative issues at Rum Island Park, not far from OSFR headquarters.  The article is by Carl McKinny but sorry we cannot provide a link.

The photos appearing here were taken early Tuesday, December 19.  According to the article, the last cleaning would have been Friday, Dec. 15,  with a weekend of use since.  There was no visible trash found  this day, and the toilets were in good condition and clean.

  1. Parents who let their older children run wild. No parent will discipline their kids they make anymore. I do like the idea of locking up parents with the wild uncontrolled child every time laws are broken. Young Harry Weinstine thugs raised by drunks and drug addicts. If the sheriff, State law enforcement, DEA, and parents really want to stop this madness they would wait for the people to leave the park check them for driving drunk or high and ARREST THEM!! Identify them publically with arrest reports in the news for every one to see who got busted. Look at the revenue the county could be collecting with fines.
AH lets all blame the portable potty company LOL!! Bring your own made babies up from birth to respect OR stop making them.

  2. To check them daily would cost money and not prevent the damage from being done. Checking them daily would just catch the damages faster.
Plus the chemical put in the toilets to maintain them is not free nor is it free to dump the waste pumped out of them or the gas to run the truck out there daily. Thesalary of the man driving the truck has to be covered. Do you think the county would be willing to pay the extra money for that and if not who would you suggest cover that cost.

  3. While I get people can be destructive, & while you state the park doesn’t provide ample security to prevent destruction of property/rule breakers (I can agree w this)- why not curb your losses by going out daily on weekends/summer & spring break to clean & pump them, as well as Monday/Wed/Friday.

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t let your family be restricted to flushing the toilet only twice a wk, or even enter & sit on the toilet in a dirty restroom, so why do that to hundreds of visitors that frequent the park each wk?!

Imagine if Wal-Mart only cleaned their restrooms every few days- and their toilets flush!

You’re not the only toilets being vandalized, you’re just the only owner complaining instead of taking measures to prevent it by making your presence known & frequent “check in” trips.
