The Santa Fe River depicted  as never before is what you will see when you go to the art gallery at Rum 138 at 2070 SW CR 1 38, Fort White.

Opening last night March 23, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm was the special, unique and beautiful exhibit by the Wheelchair Highwaymen, represented in person by artist Max Lee.

The unique perspective offered by the Highwaymen is that of overhead views of the river and its springs provided by drones.  The images are then morphed, by advanced computer technology, into creative interpretations of colors and impressions resulting in true works of art.

If you love the Santa Fe River, come and see these beautiful images unlike any you have seen before.  You have until April 24, at which time the exhibit will be taken down.

Art enriches our lives and should be available to everyone.   All the pieces from the Wheelchair Highwaymen are for sale at reasonable prices, enabling us to be consumers instead of mere occasional observers.

More information about the artists, Max Lee, JR Harding and Gordon Palmer, can be found at wheelchairhighwaymen.com

Rum 138 Art Gallery,  owned and managed by OSFR  board member Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, has many art depictions of the Santa Fe River, and is the only art gallery specializing in North Florida’s springs, rivers and wetlands.  As many of you know, our area is unique with its many beautiful springs comprising a valuable asset to our state, but unfortunately our water is under siege and in decline due to decades of incompetent mismanagement.

  Merrillee describes her gallery:
“Rum 138 created a gallery developing a regional art movement in which the springs and rivers in North Central Florida are being depicted by many artists in their own vision and style.
It is the only gallery in Florida which displays only springs and river artwork.
Keeping in mind as art history goes…100, 200, 300 years from now the art work our local fine artists are creating will perhaps have even more meaning than today. “

The gallery is open 9 – 5 every day except Tuesdays.  Delicious food is also available, and it is probably the only art gallery where you can also rent a kayak for a paddle down the river.
