Save Our Springs: Florida Springs Institute Hosts Annual Fundraiser on April 28th

GAINESVILLE, FL – Spend an evening under the springs on April 28 with the Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center Gainesville from 6-10 p.m.

The Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute (FSI) is a local science-based educational nonprofit organization working to restore and protect Florida’s springs and to ensure access to clean drinking water for current and future generations.

Springs enthusiasts are invited to enjoy an evening of food and fun in support of springs conservation and education. The event will include a special presentation by local nature photographer, John Moran, whose piece with fellow photographer, David Moynahan, “Oasis in the Dark”, will be available for auction during the event.

“The Florida Springs Institute’s annual fundraiser is the perfect opportunity for the Gainesville community to come together in support of what makes Florida unique: our springs and the aquifer that provides our drinking water,” says FSI Executive Director, Dr. Robert Knight. “Guests will enjoy an opportunity to learn about the important work that FSI is doing to protect our springs and aquifer, while also enjoying an elegant evening celebrating environmental protection.”

The Gala will include food, drinks, a silent auction featuring local artists and businesses, and a few additional surprises. The Florida Springs Institute will also honor its volunteers and a local community member and business, whose actions as stewards for springs protection continue to inspire us all.

Following the Gala, attendees are invited to join FSI Executive Director, Dr. Robert Knight, for a complimentary tour of Sweetwater Wetlands Park on April 29th at 8:30 a.m.

Tickets for the Save Our Springs: Mermaid Gala can be purchased online at www.FloridaSpringsInstitute.org/MermaidGala or by calling 386.454.9369. All proceeds will benefit the Florida Springs Institute. This event is funded in part by Visit Gainesville/Alachua County.
