SilencedspringsBob Knight, President of the Florida Springs Institute and long-time springs champion, has published a book on his favorite topic. What would you like to learn about springs? Maybe an Overview of Florida springs geology and ecology, plus a history of human interactions? (Open the book to Chapter 1.) Water balances for springs, including an estimate of at least 1,021 springs in Florida? (Chapter 3 and Appendix 5.) A plan, with cost estimates, for springs restoration? (Chapter 9.) Location, discharge rate, chloride and Nitrate-N trends for springs? (Appendix 8.) Read a series of newspaper op-eds by Dr. Knight and others striving to protect and improve springs? (Sprinkled throughout these and other chapters.) And much more information, too.

No other place on the planet has a concentration of large springs anything like that in Florida. The goal of “Silenced Springs” is “a renewed call to arms for spring lovers everywhere. It is through our collective efforts that we have the hope of bringing Florida’s priceless springs back to their former health.” (p. 150.)

All proceeds benefit the Florida Springs Institute. Clicking on the bookcover image will take you to the Institute and inform you how to order this essential Florida book.
