WTCT.tv from Tallahassee released a Suwannee River Water Management District Press Release:

LIVE OAK, FL–

The Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) will hold a workshop on Oct. 8 in Bradford County to address water supply planning for the Upper Santa Fe River Basin (USFRB).

The basin lies within the SRWMD and includes portions of Bradford, Baker, Columbia, Union and Alachua counties.

The meeting will be held from 5:45-7:45 p.m. at the Bradford County Public Library, 456 W Pratt St., Starke. The public is invited to attend.

The workshop will provide details about the combined efforts between the SRWMD and the St. Johns River Water Management District for the water supply planning process in northeast Florida.

The water supply plan for the USFRB will address water availability in the basin to meet water demands over the next 20 years.

Carlos Herd, SRWMD water supply project manager, said the District is concerned with future water supply in the basin based upon the District’s established minimum flow and level for the USFRB.

The water supply plan for the USFRB is scheduled for adoption by the SRWMD governing board in December 2010.

The state’s five water management districts are statutorily required to have plans in place to meet water supply demands over the next 20 years.
