Special visitors from the water management district were present at the regular board meeting on Sept.28 at Rum 138, OSFR headquarters.
Darrell Smith, Agriculture Director and Noah Valenstein, Executive Director for the district were both present. Mr. Smith was invited to speak to the group on agriculture and water management in the district, and Mr. Valenstein added to the general information regarding the history of the Best Management Practices (BMPs) and Best Management Action Plans (BMAPs).
Since Vice President Terry Phelan has worked extensively researching these issues for our banners which were created for the Water/Ways program, she had some pertinent questions for the district representatives. OSFR is grateful to Mr. Valenstein and Mr. Smith for their time and effort to visit the board meeting.
New members Cindy and Mike Noell attended the meeting as well as prospective member Russ Jones. Cindy and Mike may soon be working on membership, which is no easy task now that we are well over 100 in number.
Events director Sandy Hubbard informed us that the next paddle will take place on Oct. 29, from the 47 bridge to the 129 bridge. Details will be forthcoming soon, so watch for a post and the calendar notice.
