Florida Defenders of the Environment (FDE) is excited to inform you of the beginning of the second phase of a public engagement strategy for defining the future of the Ocklawaha River.  The first phase consisted of five Listening Sessions which were conducted during the fall of 2017.  The second phase consists of an American Assembly process which begins with a Public Information Session on the evening of June 28, 2018 in Palatka.  Details of the meeting are provided below and in the attached pdf flyer.  This session will be followed by a one-day American Assembly focused on producing a policy document guiding future actions and alternatives.

Everyone is invited to attend the Public Information Session during which several representatives from government agencies will be giving brief presentations and then be available to answer questions.  The purpose of the session is to provide a summary of the results from the Listening Sessions​, ​describe economic contributions from the river and reservoir, explain existing environmental conditions and operations​,​and present potential future economic development opportunities.  Next steps in the public engagement process will also be presented.
