Why is our governor not filling the water boards? Overly careful? No, too much time has elapsed. Incompetent? Maybe. A strategy? Not likely, no logical reason. Conspiracy by pro-development forces to gut local control over water resources and hand it to Tallahassee? No, because the boards kow-tow to developers already.
So no good answer, unless maybe he just doesn’t care. Some good environmentalists have been nominated, including OSFR board member Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson and Dr. Robert Knight. When your historian sent a formal hard paper nomination to the governor, with copies to the secretary of the DEP and one other office, he got no acknowledgement from any of the offices.
Just like Mr. Pittman when he tried to communicate with our leader.
So, we’ll go with incompetent and “I can’t be bothered.”
But DeSantis’ inaction has cost the taxpayer money.
