Two Santa Fe springs to be preserved
Two springs on the upper Santa Fe River will be protected with the purchase of 254 acres by the Alachua Conservation Trust.
The springs are near the river’s confluence with Olustee Creek and the purchase was made with grants from several organizations and individual donations, ACT reported in a news release Wednesday.
Plans to buy the property were in the works for three years, and were funded by hundreds of individual donors, the Suwannee River Water Management District and grants from private family foundations and organizations such as the Conservation Alliance, ACT Executive Director Tom Kay said in a news release.
The purchase cost $1.4 million.
