More public outreach at the University City Kiwanis Club in Gainesville when OSFR Policy Director Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson spoke to the group at a luncheon on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She spoke on water issues of concern in the North Florida area, which are under increasing threat from over-pumping and pollution.
The University City Kiwanis Club is located within Division 04 of the Florida District and is represented by Lieutenant Governor Tina Bullock. Lieutenant Governor Bullock is responsible for nine North Florida Kiwanis Clubs including: Baker County, Gainesville, Jasper, Lake City, Lake Region-Keystone Heights-Melrose, Live Oak, Santa Fe, Starke and University City, Gainesville.
Because the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville and the Kiwanis Club of the University City are both located in Gainesville within Division 04, Florida District, the two clubs frequently join together to cosponsor events.
A typical Kiwanis club is a snapshot of its community, with members from all walks of life and at every step of the career ladder. They are unified in their belief that children and their communities benefit from the efforts of a proficient group of caring and involved volunteers. In a typical year, Kiwanis clubs invest more than 6.2 million hours and US$100 million in communities around the world. Through these efforts, the Kiwanis organization truly leaves a lasting impression on future generations.
