Dr. Robert Knight of the Florida Springs Institute has sent the following email.  It seems that on top of the manatees’ current woes of starvation and pollution, we have learned that now we are threatening their immune systems.

Here is an alarming new research study concerning the presence of glyphosate (Roundup) herbicide and breakdown products in Florida’s waters and in manatees. I recently met the senior author and was very impressed by her work on this issue. We hope to collaborate in the future with additional sampling of springs waters.
