Ichetucknee headspring. Threatened by leaders who give preference to industry, loved by the people, treasure of Florida.

Earle Kinard and son Wayne. Earl started the tradition some seven or eight decades ago

The seventh annual Iche Nippy Dip Day celebration of springs took place on Jan. 4 with many enthusiastic dippers, although the weather was wet but less than nippy.  As always, the initial plunge into the water was brisk, but coming out was warm and no shivering was noticed.

The park staff was out in force with many information points, hot coffee, cocoa, anniversary cake and chili.  New this year was a huge food bus offering a large variety of things to eat.

Kristin Rubin and Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, two very hard working OSFR board members. This was Kristin’s first dip but Merrillee has not missed a one.

Our Santa Fe River, Inc is a Florida not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization composed of concerned citizens working to protect the waters and lands supporting the aquifer, springs and rivers within the watershed of the Santa Fe River. We do this by promoting public awareness pertaining to the ecology, quality, and quantity of the waters and lands immediately adjacent to and supporting the Santa Fe River, including its springs and underlying aquifer.
