Here is an announcement of our water district’s meeting to discuss the minimum flows and levels of the Middle and Upper Suwannee River.

This is a process the District must go through so the public may have an opportunity to express opinion about further destroying our river.

The process allows the District to legally lower the water flow and allow more pumping so industry may pull more water from the river.  To do this the water scientists sometimes cherry pick and manipulate data to reach their desired end.

No matter what ensues in these meetings, the water levels in our rivers go down and down as industry is allowed to pump more.

The winners here are not the rivers but the water users and the District staff who have work to do to earn their salaries and make it all legal.

Our Santa Fe River, Inc is a Florida not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization composed of concerned citizens working to protect the waters and lands supporting the aquifer, springs and rivers within the watershed of the Santa Fe River. We do this by promoting public awareness pertaining to the ecology, quality, and quantity of the waters and lands immediately adjacent to and supporting the Santa Fe River, including its springs and underlying aquifer.
