A conference on the environment took place in Gainesville this Thurs. – Sat., Feb. 12-14, 2015 at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.  This is the 21st annual Public Interest Environmental Conference,

Among the many speakers and panels, of particular interest to Our Santa Fe River was the one on fracking led by Jennifer Springfield, whose panelists included Hannah Wiseman, Timothy Riley, and Ralf Brookes.

This program was attended by OSFR president Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson, who is actively pursuing, instigating and supporting the furious anti-fracking activity which for some time has been on-going in our state.

The conference was co-chaired by Adrian Mahoney and Elizabeth Turner, and addressed ” energy: how it’s made, how it’s used, and the effects that energy production and use has on humans and our environment.”

The conference  included panel discussions, special events and activities, citizen and attorney skills trainings and Continuing Legal Education opportunities provided by the Florida Bar Association ELULS Public Interest Committee.

Friends & Other Advocates - Part of Our mission here at Our Santa Fe River is to inform the public about issues pertaining to the water quality and quantity of the Santa Fe River. We do that in many ways including posting articles here on Our website. To that end, we use many articles from many different sources. So we send out a huge THANK YOU to all of those friends and other advocates who give their time and energy by writing about what matters most to us, protecting Our Santa Fe River and letting us republish those items here on our website.
