If conditions are right (i.e. the Santa Fe is not flooding after heavy rains), we will hike (wade) up the Santa Fe River where it meets the New River. We will sample the various micro-habitats (e.g. pools, riffles) for fish and aquatic invertebrates using various seine and dip nets. Hopefully, we will have a few experts along that can help us with the ID’s.

About the Preserve:
Santa Fe River Preserve protects 186 acres on the banks of the Santa Fe River near Worthington Springs which includes high bluffs along the river and an interesting tangle of floodplain forest where the New River converges with the Santa Fe.
WHAT TO BRING
Hat, snacks, sunscreen, and water. Most importantly, clothes and shoes (DO NOT WEAR FLIP-FLOPS) that can get wet. Bring your own reusable water bottle. No boats, kayaks, etc. needed.
