The third meeting of Dr. Bob Knight’s series “Springs Academy Tuesdays” was held today, June 7, 2016 at the North Florida Springs Environmental Center in High Springs.

Previous sessions dealt with a springs overview and springs hydrogeology, and this  one was on springs chemistry in  general as well as nutrients and trace contaminants.

Many different substances may be found in the springs, but the major undesirable is nitrate-nitrogen from fertilizer.

The popular series meets the first Tuesday of the month from noon until 1 o’clock at the High Springs Environmental Center at 99 NW First Street, and will run through September, 2016.  Everyone is welcome and no reservations are necessary.

Friends & Other Advocates - Part of Our mission here at Our Santa Fe River is to inform the public about issues pertaining to the water quality and quantity of the Santa Fe River. We do that in many ways including posting articles here on Our website. To that end, we use many articles from many different sources. So we send out a huge THANK YOU to all of those friends and other advocates who give their time and energy by writing about what matters most to us, protecting Our Santa Fe River and letting us republish those items here on our website.
