Monday evening saw the first of the new lecture series sponsored by OSFR, Ichetucknee Alliance, and the New Century Woman’s Club of High Springs, when Pegeen Hanrahan and Aliki Moncrief spoke on Amendment 1: the need, intent and implementation.

No two individuals were more  responsible for the success of this amendment and both continue to be watervoiceslogofeatureddeeply involved with Florida’s Water and Land Legacy.  Hanrahan was  Deputy Campaign Manager  and is now on the Board of Directors of that organization, and Moncrief was Field Director to place Amendment 1 on the ballot and continues her work with that organization as Executive Director.

As such, there is very little these two do not know about the Amendment, and they expertly fielded many questions from the large crowd.

Lu Merritt announced at the end of the program that the next speaker would be Tom Swihart, well known for his writings on “The Watery Foundation,” often reprinted on this website.
