Doug Miller, Floridians Against Fracking Coordinator& Campaign Director | ReThink Energy Florida, put out the news a short time ago that SB 1308/HB1149 was discussed and passed today, March 9, 2018 on the Senate floor. Senator Farmer removed the three amendments that would have mitigated the bad elements of the bill.
So, the fracking fight is over for this session, but only temporarily. As others have pointed out, compared to past years, we made huge advances this year, and came very close to victory.
Thanks to all who spent time and effort for this cause, from the salaried lobbyists who worked hard and well to the generous volunteers who made phone calls, trips to Tallahassee, sent emails, and wrote letters and op-eds. Your efforts did not go in vain, because we now have many more educated citizens opposed to fracking, and much more bi-partisan support among lawmakers. We are stronger every year.
OIL COMPANIES TAKE NOTE: We will be back for next session, and we will work even harder. Eventually we will win, and that is certain.
