The plants that comprise the bottomland forest have changed little in the past 20,000 years. Discover ancient water hickory and tupelo trees on the gradual ascent from an extensive floodplain to a mature mesic forest richly studded with stately oaks and prominent understory shrubs. This incredible property was rescued in 2022 from pending development in an amazing response by Alachua Conservation Trust for protection in perpetuity.

Enjoy this guided plant hike with plant botanist and ecologist Dr. Colette Jacono, PhD., specializing in aquatic and wetland plants in Florida for over twenty years. Purchase your tickets for this wonderous hike by clicking here. 25 seat limit.

RiverFest helps fund Our Santa Fe River with the hikes, a Spring Hop paddle, a Songwriting Contest, a silent auction and a paddle board auction. Established in 2010, many amazing and unique songs have been written and presented on behalf of our river. Many of these songs can be accessed through our YouTube page.

RiverFest is hosted by Our Santa Fe River, Inc. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the springs, water, aquifer, land and ecosystem of the Santa Fe River in North Central Florida.

Thank you for supporting our volunteers who offer educational opportunities and our advocacy for the protection of our river, springs and aquifer.
